Today 8 June marks World Ocean`s Day.
The ocean, which makes up around 71% of the Earth’s mass is under threat due to overfishing, pollution, species extinction, habitat destruction, and climate change. As humans, we need the ocean; for among other reasons, it’s said to produce more oxygen than the world’s forests.

The day is an opportunity to raise global awareness of the benefits humans get from the ocean and our individual and collective duty to use its resources sustainably. It is also a chance to celebrate and appreciate what the ocean provides, from the oxygen we breathe to the inspiration it provides artists and all the wonder animals that call the ocean home.
