Easy cocktail recipes to try for World Cocktail Day

13 May is World Cocktail Day and it marks the anniversary of the first published definition of a cocktail in 1806.

To celebrate this boozy celebration we have compiled some easy recipes you can try at home. Even if you don’t have bar tools, you can improvise: A mason jar, a clean cocktail shaker, a good spoon, and ice allows you to do just about anything.

Go ahead and try some of the delicious cocktails at home or go to your favorite bar and request one of the following.

Coconut Litchi Mocktail (Supplied by Rhodes Quality)

INGREDIENTSMETHOD
1 l (4 cups) Rhodes Quality Litchi Fruit Juice Blend·         
1x can full-fat coconut milk
250ml coconut water·         
To serve lime wedges and ice cubes·         
Combine the Rhodes Quality Litchi Fruit Juice, coconut milk, coconut water, rum if using, and ice cubes in a blender. Puree until very smooth. Pour over ice, and garnish with lime wedges. Serve immediately.

Add 1 tot of rum per glass to make a alcoholic version

 Bourbon Old Fashioned  (Supplied by Woodford Reserve)

IngredientsMethod
50 ml Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select
1 tsp brown sugar2 dashes bittersOrange zest (for garnish)
Add ingredients to a mixing glass.Add ice to mixing glass and serving glass.Stir ingredients for 30-40 secs.Strain into serving glass.Garnish with a lightly expressed orange peel.

The Classic Martini (Supplied by Pimville Gin)

IngredientsMethod
Green pitted olives
15ml brine
15ml dry vermouth
70ml Pimville gin
Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
Garnish with 2 olives

Bramble (Supplied by Triple Three Gin)

INGREDIENTS METHOD
50 ml Triple Three Citrus Infusion
15ml   Sugar syrup 
25ml  Lemon Juice
10ml Blackberry Liqueur/Crème de Casis 
Cubed or crush ice
Combine all the ingredients serve over ice and garnish with 3 Raspberries on pick, mint, and lemon

Love To Death (Supplied by Sexton Irish Whiskey)

IngredientsMethod
35ml Sexton Single Malt Irish Whiskey
25ml Fresh Lime Juice
12.5ml Aperol
2 Dashes Absinthe
12.5ml Sugar Syrup
Add ingredients to a mixing glass. Garnish with a Lemon Twist & a Sprig of Thyme

Classic Mule (Supplied by Bloedlemoen Gin)

IngredientsMethod
37,5 ml Bloedlemoen Gin
15 ml Sugar syrup (1 part sugar, 1 part boiling water. Shake to dissolve sugar then chill)
½ Lime squeezed
Pour all ingredients into a tall glass with ice. Give a quick stir. Garnish with lime shell.

Jungle Bird (Supplied by Don Papa Rum)

INGREDIENTS METHOD
45ml Don Papa
15ml Campari
45ml Pineapple juice
15ml Lime juice
15ml Simple Syrup
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Dehydrated Pineapple
Pineapple leaf
Combine ingredients (apart from bitters) in cocktail shaker
add ice and shake hard for 15-20 seconds
Strain into ice filled highball or hurricane glass
Garnish with a pineapple leaf, dehydrated pineapple, and Angostura bitters.

Pompelmo Fizz (Supplied by Ginato Gin)

INGREDIENTS (Makes 6)METHOD
35ml Ginato Pomplemo
Dash of elderflower syrup (or liqueur)
Prosecco
combine all ingredients in a champagne flute and garnish with rosemary sprig.

Belvedere Spitz (Supplied by Belvedere Vodka)

INGREDIENTS METHOD
1 oz / 30 ml Belvedere Vodka
1 oz / 30 ml Lillet Blanc
2 Grapefruit Slices
1 Sprig of Thyme
Combine all ingredients in a spritz glass, over ice.
Top with equal parts of sparkling water and tonic water.

Belvedere Spiked Lemonade (supplied by Belvedere Vodka)

INGREDIENTS METHOD
60ml Belvedere Vodka
20ml fresh lemon juice
20ml simple syrup
5 raspberries
Ginger beer
Place all ingredients into a shaker except for ginger beer.
Add ice and shake.
Strain over fresh ice in a Collin or highball glass.
Top with ginger beer, and garnish with mint and raspberry.

Jack Honey Smash ( Suppled by Jack Daniels)

INGREDIENTSMETHOD
50 ml Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey
6-8 mint leaves
12.5 ml lemon juice
12.5 ml simple syrup
crushed ice
½ fill a cocktail shaker with cubed ice
Add all ingredients and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds
2/3 fill a highball glass with crushed ice
Strain the liquid into the glass
Add mint sprig to garnish
